Regen hunting

Regens are important in making sure that there will be sufficient players in the game. Exploring and scouting regens takes a lot of time but it's definitely worth it.

There are many ways you can find regens, easy way is of course use the genie scout and find the one with highest PA but that's defeat the purpose.

Firstly, you need a brief knowledge on the facilities of clubs around the world. Clubs with a better youth recruitment network usually attracts the best player. For example, FC Barcelona in my 2019 save has an extensive youth recruitment. It might be a good decision to take a look into their U19 squad.

Secondly, you need to know the dates of when the regens will arrive in clubs. You can take a look at this for the regens date for all the countries in FM 2012. I usually go and take a look at clubs with good recruitment networks and survey their U18 squad.

Things to consider

1) I'll usually take a look at their description first. Usually i'll sign up players with promising as their description. I'll buy them if they're available for cheap money. I can always sell them and get profit if they didn't work out well.

2) I'll look at their media comparison. It might not be accurate but it will give you a brief information about him. For example, this regen i found from Real Madrid (bought for £975k) was labelled as the next Iker Casillas when he was in RM but when he arrive into Tottenham, he was touted as the next Gorka Iraizoz (Atheltic Bilbao) instead.

- Michael Truckenboard, touted as the next Jurgen Klinsmann.

3) Obviously, i'll look at their attributes.

4) Scout them with your best scout available (high in judging potential ability).

Other methods

There are other methods also but i would like to tell you another method which involves managing U19/U21/23 squads and take part in competitions. This will not only give you a chance to expand your trophy collections but also get you to take a deeper look into the players there. For example, i managed French U21 and i signed one of their players. It was a decent find.

Another method is also sending your scouts to scout on U18 competitions. I sent some of my squads to various competitions but i did not find any impressive regens so far.

I hope this "guide" will help you in building your squad for the future. One of my favourite part of FM 2012 is developing my youths and it all starts with hunting good regens. I'm going to leave you with some of the regens i have founded and nurtured them into great players.
